This was a blast!
I participated in Illustrator Kati Vuorento’s character drawing course this month and played with these two new characters that were born from scraps of paper and an ink blob.
At the end of the course they got published in our own private publication.
I call them Piu & Muu, and the story here is in Finnish, but basically they are each other’s opposites.
Piu is a heroic dog who is a happy-go-lucky sort of dog.
He looks for problems to solve and here’s where they first meet, Muu fascinates him, he’s an interesting one to try to figure out, because he’s deeply depressing, like Eeyore x 100, so deep down that nothing will work out for him.
This one growl made Piu notice him and then they became friends
who taught each other a lot.
Piu learnt to slow down to really listen, and Muu learnt to express himself, he became visible with Piu’s attention.
Sweet little friends!
And here’s a little clay figure I also created inspired by these characters.
