In 2024, I showed up on Patreon and had a year long break from social media.

Here’s a little overview on the spiritual side of the journey.

A year ago, when I started calling in my next word of the year—which has been my annual tradition for well over a decade in which I figure out one word for the year in advance that sets the vibe for the year—and “me” popped up.

I was a bit surprised, never before had I had a pronoun appear as a word of the year (usually they are adjectives or nouns, rarely verbs…). The word appeared to me in English, but it has a double meaning for me, because in Finnish “me” means “we”.

We need me.

So, I welcomed a year of ME with gratitude, but little did I know how deep it would go, how I’d be birthing myself anew, filling my cookie jar (of creative energy) on the way, and focus on healing and renewing.

I didn’t plan this, but the whole journey unfolded in the most divinely orchestrated way!

I’m still recovering from it all, taking it slow, but I can feel my personal spring calling me. My mind feels refreshed and ready for a new beginning, but my body is a bit slow to catch up.

My Social Media Break Ends

in a few days

I haven’t posted anything on social media for the whole year. I have loved to be this free of the pressure, the algorithms, and the frustrating metrics. But I have missed the interaction and people!

Throughout the year, I’ve enjoyed seeing some big names signing out from social media (for example the Minimalists in the spring and Glennon Doyle in the fall). I wonder what happens to social media in the future…

I haven’t yet decided how I’m going to get back on social media in 2025, or even if I will, but I won’t be announcing another year of not posting there now. Maybe I’ll return with a monthly something and defy the rules of the algorithm?! We’ll see!
