I started blogging and had my first website created ten years ago!
This series is a sneak peek back into those days (and illustrations).
When I doodled my daily doodle for #Inktober2020 inspired by day 22 prompt “CHEF” I remembered this old illustration I made for my very first website.
Back then I was coming back to who I am after the blurry days of having two babies. I filled my journals with doodles of this little lizzard, who eventually morphed into the ego lizard I now draw for the Mira(cle)Doodles.
And it was so convenient that I started with a lizard, because at first when you start stripping down the layers of who you are the first to show up is your ego and all the tendencies it has for reacting with your world.
The lizard represents the ego and the primal part of our brain, the one prone to keep us alive – The survival instinct. However we don’t need to ‘survive’ in our modern world as much as in the stone age, so we can also lean in to our more advanced parts in the brain, those which build community and oneness.
This lizard was stirring a puzzle brew that symbolized my life – Something was bubbling inside me and wanting to come out. All my art that I have created during these past ten years! And in that shaker he had more pieces for the puzzle. It says “Salt of Life” – But the ego only added it in the soup sparingly.
I’m so happy I started the journey of self-discovery back then and showed up with my pen and paper and allowed Mira to eventually pop out of my pen.
When she was born with her heart and started to lead me from one happy realization to the next, I had had enough of my ego and the confusing layers it wanted to explain and explore over and over again. I was ready for love!
There’s so much more to life, when you dive deeper into who you really are and find out the loving truth.
But it’s all a journey, and every step of it is worth taking!
